The OnePlus 16 is a rumored flagship smartphone that focuses on high-end performance, advanced photography, and a large battery. The phone has not received an official announcement yet, so some specifications may change before its launch.

Design and Build

The OnePlus 16 may feature a premium glass front with Gorilla Glass Victus 2, an aluminum frame, and either a glass or glass-fiber reinforced plastic back. However, the final back-panel material may vary by market or model.

Moreover, the phone supports Nano-SIM configurations with eSIM support on selected variants. It also carries an IP68/IP69K rating, which helps protect the device against dust, water, and high-pressure water jets.

Display

The OnePlus 16 could feature a 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a 165Hz refresh rate. Therefore, the screen should provide smooth animations and responsive scrolling.

It offers a 1272 × 2772 pixel resolution with around 450 PPI density. In addition, Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HDR Vivid, and Ultra HDR support can deliver richer colors and better contrast.

Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protects the display from everyday scratches and impacts.

Performance and Software

The OnePlus 16 is expected to run Android 17 with OxygenOS 17. It may use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset, built on an advanced 2nm process.

Furthermore, the octa-core processor can reach clock speeds of up to 5.01GHz. The Adreno 850 GPU should also handle demanding games and graphics-intensive applications efficiently.

The phone may offer 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage options. RAM configurations could reach 16GB, while UFS 5.0 storage should provide fast data access.

Camera

The OnePlus 16 could feature a triple rear camera system. It may include a 200MP main camera with PDAF and OIS, a 50MP periscope telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, and a 50MP ultrawide camera.

As a result, the camera system should cover a wide range of photography needs. Moreover, features such as laser focus, a color spectrum sensor, HDR, panorama, and LUT preview can improve the shooting experience.

For video recording, the phone may support 8K at 30fps and 4K recording at up to 120fps. It could also offer Dolby Vision, Auto HDR, and gyro-EIS.

On the front, the device may use a 50MP autofocus selfie camera. Furthermore, it could record 4K video at 30fps and 60fps.

Sound and Connectivity

The OnePlus 16 is expected to feature stereo speakers with 24-bit/192kHz Hi-Res audio support. However, it will not include a 3.5mm headphone jack.

For connectivity, the phone may support Wi-Fi 6/7, Bluetooth 6.0, and several global navigation systems. In addition, NFC, an infrared port, and USB Type-C 3.2 connectivity add useful features.

Features and Sensors

The phone could include an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor under the display. Moreover, it may offer an accelerometer, gyroscope, compass, proximity sensor, and barometer on selected variants.

The UAV-grade gyroscope may also improve motion tracking and stabilization during supported applications.

Battery

One of the biggest highlights of the OnePlus 16 could be its large 9000 mAh battery. Therefore, the phone should provide plenty of power for extended daily use.

It may support 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. Additionally, reverse wireless charging, 5W reverse wired charging, and bypass charging could provide more flexibility.

Final Thoughts

Overall, the OnePlus 16 could bring together a high-refresh-rate AMOLED display, powerful flagship hardware, advanced cameras, and a large battery.
