The Huawei Mate XT 2 Ultimate is an upcoming premium tri-foldable smartphone designed for users who want a large display without carrying a traditional tablet. It combines a foldable 10.2-inch screen, flagship hardware, advanced cameras, and versatile connectivity in a unique design.
Huawei announced the Huawei Mate XT 2 Ultimate on September 7, 2026, and expects to release it on October 31, 2026. Therefore, the device currently remains in the “coming soon” category.
Design and Build
The Huawei Mate XT 2 Ultimate features a sophisticated tri-fold design. When unfolded, it measures 157.2 × 219.2 mm, while its thickness ranges from 3.5 to 4.0 mm. When folded, the phone measures 157.2 × 77 × 12.3 mm and weighs 299 grams.
Moreover, the phone supports dual Nano-SIM functionality and stylus input. It also carries IP58/IP59 protection, so it can resist dust and handle water exposure, including high-pressure water jets and limited submersion.
Display
The biggest highlight of the Huawei Mate XT 2 Ultimate is its 10.2-inch tri-foldable LTPO OLED display. It offers 1 billion colors, a 90Hz refresh rate, and 1440Hz PWM technology.
The main screen delivers a 2232 × 3184-pixel resolution with around 381 PPI density. As a result, users get a spacious and detailed viewing area for productivity, reading, gaming, and entertainment.
Additionally, the phone includes a 6.5-inch external LTPO OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The external screen also uses Xuanwu Kunlun glass for added durability. An optional Privacy Display further improves privacy in certain situations.
Performance and Software
The Huawei Mate XT 2 Ultimate runs on HarmonyOS 7.0 and uses the Kirin 9050 Pro chipset. Huawei pairs the platform with 16GB of RAM across all storage configurations.
Users can choose between 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB of internal storage. However, the phone does not provide a memory card slot.
Camera
The Huawei Mate XT 2 Ultimate features a versatile triple-camera system. It combines a 50MP main camera with variable f/1.5-f/4.0 aperture, a 50MP periscope telephoto camera, and a 40MP ultrawide camera.
Furthermore, the main and telephoto cameras include OIS, while the telephoto lens offers 3.5x optical zoom. Laser autofocus, a color spectrum sensor, HDR, and panorama support also improve the photography experience.
For selfies, the phone includes an 8MP front camera. In addition, the external display provides another 8MP camera. Both camera systems can record 4K video at 30fps.
Sound and Connectivity
The phone features stereo speakers for a more immersive audio experience. However, it does not include a 3.5mm headphone jack.
For wireless connectivity, the Huawei Mate XT 2 Ultimate supports Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0. It also offers GPS, GLONASS, BDS, GALILEO, QZSS, and NavIC for positioning.
Moreover, NFC and an infrared port add extra convenience. The USB Type-C 3.1 port supports DisplayPort 1.2 and OTG, allowing users to connect compatible accessories and external displays.
Features and Sensors
The Mate XT 2 Ultimate uses a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for secure unlocking. It also includes an accelerometer, gyro, proximity sensor, compass, barometer, and altimeter.
Additionally, the phone supports BDS satellite calling and messaging in China. This feature provides another communication option when supported cellular connectivity is unavailable.
Battery
The device packs a 5600 mAh silicon-carbon lithium-ion battery. Therefore, users can expect a solid balance between battery capacity and the demands of its large foldable display.
It supports 66W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. Furthermore, the phone supports 7.5W reverse wireless charging and 5W reverse wired charging for compatible accessories.
Final Thoughts
Overall, the Mate XT 2 Ultimate brings together an impressive tri-fold design, expansive displays, powerful hardware, and a versatile camera system. Its 10.2-inch unfolded screen makes it particularly interesting for users who want both smartphone and tablet-style functionality.
